Raindance Independent Series Awards Winners Announced
Raindance Web Fest, the UK’s only dedicated web series festival has announced the winners of the annual Raindance Independent Series Awards (RISA) – an awards ceremony dedicated to recognising upcoming talent within the web series industry.
The ceremony, which was hosted by Raindance Web Fest Founder Elisar Cabrera and previous Web Fest winner, Phillip Whiteman, took place at Vue Piccadilly on 27th September. They were also joined by Jury member, Johanna Rahim (Time Inc), RISA sponsors, Christin Baker of premium online network, Tello Films, Bengu Atamer (BuzzMyVideos), Ivan Radford (Vodzilla) and Stefano Caccavo (Dailymotion) in presenting the awards.
The winning series were selected by a high profile panel of movers and shakers in the industry, including includes New Form Digital’s Chief Creative Officer, Kathleen Grace, Head of YouTube’s Next Lab EMEA at Google, David Ripert and Channel 4’s Head of All 4 and Digital Content, Richard Davidson- Houston.
RISA categories included Best British Series, Best International Series, Best Leading Actor and two new awards, Best Writing and Best Directing, as well as special awards, Critic’s Choice Award and Special Festival Award.
The winner of Raindance Web Fest’s Web Series Pilot Competition, in association with DailyMotion, was also announced on the night.
The Web Fest aims to recognize the opportunities that the creation of the internet offers to the next generation of filmmakers. Winner of the new Special Festival Award, Artistically Challenged, is a scripted comedy in 14 second episodes, which were released on the leading social media platform, Instagram, a perfect example of uncovering new ways of releasing short film.

The RISAs are a great way to close the festival and recognise the brilliant filmmaking talent of the digital world.”
